Many of us deal with those creepy feelings. An eerie sense that over powers when we leave our home. The uncertain questions second guessing ourselves. We hope that when we return home we are not greeted with a pile of burned rubble. All this paranoia because we keep asking ourselves that dreaded question. “Did we leave the oven on?” Yes, it is a simple enough matter, make sure you turn off the oven, shut off running water and other appliances. When you’re traveling internationally, eating at local restaurants is an opportunity to learn about that country’s culture and customs, says Gert Kopera, the executive vice president of global restaurants for Hakkasan Group, a collection of 41 restaurants worldwide. But, Mr. Kopera said, dining out can also make travelers uncomfortable. “Dining etiquette and traditions vary by country, and if you don’t know the customs in the destination you’re visiting,” he said, “it’s easy to feel like a fish out of water.”

Steve Aoki has been to more countries in one weekend than most people will go to in their entire lives. The DJ does hundreds of shows a year, hitting between 50 to 70 countries in the process. It’s not abnormal for him to tour three countries in one day or five in 40 hours. Along the way, the self-proclaimed “adventure seeker” wants to do more than just play music. "Whenever I go to Ibiza, I want to find a new cliff to jump off of," Aoki explains seated on a couch in the much-less-exotic location of New York City.

United Airlines will pay You to switch flights?


United Airlines Inc. this week introduced a program to try to wring more money out of every seat, without causing more public-relations debacles. In the days before takeoff, United will reach out to passengers scheduled to travel on a packed flight and offer to move them to one at a less popular time in exchange for rewards, such as a $250 voucher. United can then sell those tickets to travelers willing to pay more for last-minute bookings—such as business travelers. We can all agree this is far better than the alternative.
